One of Avlite’s recently completed projects was for the transmission tower of the RACV Head Office, just outside of Melbourne. The customer was looking for economical, functional and low maintenance lighting that can operate reliably in a range of environmental conditions. These were some of the reasons that they chose to work with Avlite LED obstruction lights. The short lead time enabled the client to get started quickly and efficiently. On top of that, they also enjoyed the added bonus of supporting a local business.
In the case of the transmission tower for RACV, one Medium Intensity Light and two Dual Low Intensity Lights were used. They were attached to the top and the midpoint of the tower. These lights are fitted with a Global Positioning System (GPS) antenna and they will synchronise and flash in time with every other GPS-enabled Avlite Medium Intensity Obstruction Light. This enables clear identification of the structure within the Melbourne CBD skyline. The fixture itself includes internal diagnostic checking and has an alarm contact for remote monitoring. If there is an LED or power fault, the alarm relay is released.
The Avlite Systems LED obstruction lights used on the RACV transmission tower offer an extremely bright, energy efficient and good value lighting solution. They are manufactured to exacting standards under strict quality control procedures. Due to the eco-friendly and energy efficient LED technology, globes/bulbs do not need replacing. This results in minimal operator intervention, giving the lights a long-life expectancy and therefore low cost of ownership over their lifetime, as well as making them practically maintenance-free. The optical-clarity acrylic lens is resistant to corrosion and is specifically designed for LED use in order to augment light intensity and uniformity as much as possible.
Some projects do require a more custom solution. Our custom-designed systems can be supplied to also include remote monitoring via GSM, common photocell and synchronisation, amongst other options. There are also solar powered configurations available.
Safety and superior quality are highly important to Avlite. That’s why we make sure our lights are compliant with many international standards, including: ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organisation), FAA (Federal Aviation Administration), CASA (Civil Aviation Safety Authority of Australia), DGAC (Mexico) and many others.
Avlite LED obstruction lights have been used for many aerial obstruction projects such as large buildings, wind turbines, telecommunication towers, transmission lines and other obstacles that impact aerial navigation. They are available through almost 100 international distributors, or through our company offices which are located in Australia and the United States.
