Solar Runway Lighting Case Study

By:Avlite Systems | September 26, 2016
Application: Pilot Activated Solar runway lighting for public use/privately owned airfield
Location: United States of America
Site: North Hampton, New Hampshire
Date: Spring 2015

Background:

Avlite’s Solar Runway Lighting System Part of New Hampshire (USA) Airfield Reconstruction Project

Avlite supplied AV-70 solar runway lighting with PALC (pilot activated lighting control) to Hampton Airfield in North Hampton, NH, USA.

As part of a reconstruction project for the privately owned, public use airport, the AV-70 runway lighting system was installed to replace existing, unreliable lighting.

Avlite’s self-contained solar runway lighting was easy to install since no wiring or conduit trenching was necessary; total installation time was less than two hours.

The airport owner opted for a flexible installation. The solar lighting was installed on 11 lb tiles allowing for easy repositioning during site maintenance such as snow plowing and lawn mowing.
