Gobi Desert, Mongolia

Avlite Systems delivers a temporary, airfield lighting solution to an extreme environment

Avlite distributor, Mongolian aviation consultants ACH SVS LLC, worked closely with their customer, Oyu Tolgoi LLC, one of Mongolias largest mining companies, to provide a temporary, portable solar airfield lighting solution at Oyut Airport, Mongolia.

Avlite Systems delivered AV425-RF remote controlled solar runway and threshold lights and AV70-RF remote controlled solar taxiway lights. The Apollo-155 was installed as an aerodrome beacon, whilst the AV310 is used as a solar obstruction light and Avlite's AL-01 area lights illuminate the arrival and departure areas of the airport.

Avlite’s custom lighting system was the only one to meet the customer’s specifications and provided easy installation and operation. The system’s ability to withstand extreme temperatures in a harsh environment was also an overriding benefit.

“The remote location of the airfield lacks power and infrastructure - the perfect environment for Avlite’s robust, completely self contained AV425-RF, AV70-RF and the AV155 beacon. By providing a solar-powered, temporary (relocatable), stand-alone airfield lighting solution, Avlite offered the lowest up-front and life-time costs.”

The British Royal Air Force Purchase 700+ Avlite Radio-Controlled Solar Taxiway Lights

Britain’s Royal Air Force has ordered over 700 Avlite Systems radio controlled solar taxiway lights from Avlite’s UK partner company Systems Interface Ltd.

The RAF plan to use the Avlite solar taxiway lights on one of their bases in the United Kingdom. With a major long term construction project coming up, the base required lighting they could rely on to provide standard lighting levels year round without any electrical infrastructure.

“The RAF have taken a very close look at the alternatives and have decided on the AV70 lights based on the lower cost of ownership provided by the lower capital costs, better performance, full radio control of the lights from the tower, as well as the industry’s best warranty”

Avlite Solar Airfield Lights are the Preferred Choice for the Wanarn Community

42 x AV70 Solar Aviation Lights and Avlite’s airfield marker cones were chosen to replace the old battery lanterns used on the Wanarn airstrip.

Wanarn has an unsealed airstrip that services the community with a weekly mail run and had battery operated lights for night time RFDS evacuations. A need was identified to have permanent airstrip lights at Wanarn due to the increase of night evacuations.

Patricia Granger, from Wanarn Community has been so thrilled with their recent purchase of AV70’s that she visited the Avlite premises for a tour.
