Avlite Systems deploys portable solar runway lighting to assist the JASDF with Japanese humanitarian aid operations
Avlite Systems and its Japanese authorised distributor Meiwa Jisho Jyutaku Ryuutsuu Inc. have delivered additional solar powered LED Portable Runway Lighting Systems to the Japanese Air Self Defense Force (JASDF).
Avlite’s solar powered LED runway edge and threshold lights will support the ongoing disaster relief efforts being carried out by the JASDF at the Matsushima Air Base located in the middle air area of Japan.
The electrical airfield lighting system at Matsushima Air Base was severely damaged by the overpowering earthquake and subsequent tsunami and required a self-contained, mobile solar lighting solution to support day and night aircraft operations. Equipped with a momentary push button for on-board diagnostics and an external charge port for use during storage, Avlite's portable solar runway lighting allows fixed wing and rotary helicopter operations to support local community restoration and recovery efforts.
