Stage 2 of the Caracas Metrocable is Now Complete
The second stage of the AV23 solar obstruction lights for the Metrocable in the San Martin neighbourhood of Caracas, Venezuela has been completed.
The Metrocable is a mass transportation system and is one of the facilities being built by the Venezuelan Government to link more than 40,000 people to the Metro System in Caracas. The Metrocable project consists of more than 80 Avlite Systems AV23 solar obstruction lights being installed on the towers and stations of the Metrocable in the San Martin neighbourhood of Caracas.
The second stage of the project consisted of AV23 obstruction lights being installed on the rooftops of each of the substations. The stations have been elevated so as not to interfere with residents homes. Due to the elevation, the stations required lights to clearly identify the structures. Avlite’s self-contained AV23 solar obstruction light with its 12watt solar module and ultra-high intensity LEDs was the perfect solution for the Metrocable.
The solar-powered AV23 incorporates LED optics which have been independently tested to be in accordance with the requirements of the photometric and colourmetric specifications for a Low Intensity Type A Obstacle Light listed in Table 6-3 of ICAO Annex 14 Volume 1, ‘Aerodrome Design and Operations’, Fourth Edition July 2004.
