Avlite Systems Supplies Radio-Controlled Solar Airfield Lighting System to US Army, Afghanistan
Avlite Systems is supplying a radio-controlled solar powered LED taxiway lighting system for installation at an undisclosed US Army forward operating base in Afghanistan.
The US Army will realize a cost savings of more than $500,000 compared to alternative radio-controlled, solar powered taxiway lighting systems.
The airfield will install 254 of Avlite Systems’ radio-controlled taxiway and helipad edge lights, stake mount systems and encrypted radio controllers.
With night vision goggle (NVG) compatible LED lighting and encrypted radio control, this delivery will provide the air base with immediate on/off control, visible and infrared outputs, intensity control and systems diagnostics. Operating in rugged mountainous terrain, the lights will survive heavy snowfall, extreme hot and cold, sand blasting and repeated rotor wash.
