Avlite Awarded US Dept of Defence Contracts – Afghanistan
Avlite have recently supplied a range of airfield lights and mounts to the US Air Force and US Army for use at undisclosed air bases in Afghanistan.
Superior quality of this state-of-the-art technology, rapid delivery, proven performance, and best value and warranty helped Avlite secure this project over the competition.
“...I took a tour out to the ramp where the lights are being installed, and I got a lot of positive feedback! The project OIC said that they had no trouble installing them, and the whole area looks great at night! He also said that some of the end users were impressed as well. We appreciate getting such a strong product especially with the great support that came along with it.”

440 x red, blue and amber AV70 units for taxiway edge, helipad edge and apron edge and obstruction lighting were delivered to the airbase in May. The lights will be used for forward operating base (FOB) locations for covert activities supporting fixed wing and helicopter operations under NVGs and naked eye.
The installation will be used by NATO and ISAF helicopter and fixed wing pilots.
Avlite’s solar powered AV70 airfield light offers enormous benefits over traditional battery and hard-wired lighting products, including low maintenance, and no underground wiring. A complete airfield can be installed and operational within 45 minutes.
Thousands of AV70 lights have been deployed throughout the Middle East and are the preferred choice for expedient lighting installations.
