US Army Deploys Avlite Solar LED Airfield Lights throughout Iraq
Avlite Systems has again been chosen to provide solar LED airfield lights and associated hardware to the US Army in Iraq.
In excess of 250 self-contained expedient airfield lights were supplied at the beginning of August, complementing existing installations of Avlite products used by the US Army throughout Iraq since 2005.
Avlite models are fast becoming the preferred choice of defense customers throughout the world, with the latest acquisition a testament to the products ability to withstand some of the world’s harshest environments.
The models selected by the US Army include the popular AV70 – a completely self-contained solar-powered LED light. The model incorporates 2 angled solar panels which charge the internal battery during daylight hours, and are angled to reduce dust buildup in desert environments. The light will run with zero operator intervention for around 4 years – after which the battery can be changed onsite to extend the products’ lifespan.
US defense customers receive direct service and support from North Carolina. In addition, Avlite Systems can provide emergency relief through fast turnaround on critical orders.
