Royal Australian Air Force Deploys Avlite Solar Airfield Lights
Located near Newcastle in New South Wales, Australia, the Royal Australian Air Force will use Avlite Systems’ solar LED lights to mark displaced thresholds, and blocking off airstrip taxiways while maintenance work occurs.
“We are really happy with the AV70 lights. They are very reliable, completely portable and extremely robust” commented Mr. Bob Williams, Sqn Ldr, Base Redevelopment Coordinator.
Avlite AV70 lights incorporate two high-performance solar modules mounted within the award-winning LED lens to maximize solar collection, while the focal plane is designed to provide a vertical divergence of between 0 and +10 degrees.
Being completely self-contained and weighing only 1.2kg, Avlite Systems’ AV70 airfield lights are the perfect solution for the RAAF- the units can be deployed in minutes and have a service life of up to 12 years. Minimal maintenance is a major design specification built into all Avlite Systems products.
Other major defense agencies including the United States Army have adopted this latest technology, particularly suited to strategic and remote installations, as well as maintenance projects.
