Avlite Systems Lights Up Winnipeg Airport Authority with Solar Airfield Lights, Canada
The Winnipeg Airport Authority has recently installed a series of AV70 solar-powered taxiway and barricade lights after successful field trials and purchases during 2006.
The dual solar-array integrated into the AV70 allows the model to outperform rivals in low sunlight regions – and the angle of the panels provide for optimum solar charging across a wide range of conditions, plus reduce the likelihood of snow and dust buildup. The lights are simply switched ‘ON’ and then ready for immediate installation.
Winnipeg Airports Authority is a community-based, not-for-profit corporation that operates, manages, maintains and invests in the Winnipeg James Armstrong Richardson International Airport. Control of the airport was transferred from the federal government to WAA on January 1, 1997.
Winnipeg Airports Authority now has almost 100 Avlite solar-powered lights in service, after initial successful trials followed by orders in 2006. The low maintenance requirements and long service life of Avlite’s robust, IP68 waterproof rated products make them a clear winner.
